Teen Choice Awards…Awards!

So, Teen Choice Awards 2009…that happened. I think we’re beyond overdue to revel in its awesomeness, yes? Now, let’s just go ahead and come out with it: no one really cares who wins what at this show. I mean, for goodness sakes, it’s the TEEN CHOICE AWARDS. Not exactly scandal city, which is half of what makes these awards shows so awesome. (Cue tape of “Bruno” landing crotch-first on Eminem’s face at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards — now that was a golden tv moment.) Let’s talk about what’s REALLY important here: who looked fab and who should have just stayed home?

I’m going to go ahead and give “BEST DRESSED/MOST FABULOUS” to Leighton Meester. This may or may not be due to the fact that I have a giant woman-crush on her. I love her in Gossip Girl, and she was just so presh at the TCAs!

Now that that’s out of the way… let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?

The “That Kinda Reminds Me of Something I Saw in Forever 21, But It’s Still Way Cute!” award goes to…

Ashley Greene! What really brought this outfit together for me was the shoes. The dress looks kind of simple on it’s own…but those shoes are fab beyond belief. Just goes to show you how once detail can make a world of difference!

The “Girl, You Look Good AND You Get To Make Out With Rob Pattinson” award goes to…

K-Stew. Even though she was rocking that crazy Joan Jett mullet, I loved her look. I especially liked that she didn’t get all skanky with it and wore the wifebeater underneath the dress. Very cute, as usual. (Grumble.)

The “Thank God She’s Dressed” award goes to none other than…

VANESSA HUDGENS! I cant decide which I enjoyed more: the dress, or Dane Cook beseeching her to keep the cell-phone-shot nudes at bay. (Props, dude — it needed to be said!) Either way, love the color.

The “….What is That” award goes to (drum roll):

Selena Gomez! Girl, you are presh and I probably watch Wizards of Waverly Place far more than any normal 21-year-old should care to admit, but…………….what is going on here? This toga (?!?!?!) dress completely washed her out. Hair down might have made things better? I’m just not sure.

The “My Dress May or May Not Be a Recycled Bridesmaid Gown” award goes to:

Hayden Panettiere. She didn’t even give this one the good ol’ college try. Just…no. (Also, please note the perfectly matching peep-toed pumps. Those…exist.)

And I think that about concludes it. The best of the best and the worst of the worst…at least in my opinion. Anyone see anything awesome that I missed?

mtv movie awards superlatives!

Bevellonians! This post may be a little belated due to our blogging renovations (yay new interface!), but it is WAY overdue. The time has come to discuss the fashion of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

As most of you know, last Sunday hundreds of celebutants walked the red carpet prior to the event and donned their finest and funkiest. I’m thinking it’s time for some superlatives.

First of the night:

Best Strapless Dress:

What better place to start than the always stunning Megan Fox? This Dolce & Gabana piece fit her so well. (No comment on the hair situation.)

Most Interesting Dress:

This one goes to Miss Lauren Conrad! It took me a little getting used to, but when all was said and done I really liked this Moschino dress. And the Louboutins definitely didn’t hurt ;-)

Best Use of Side-Bow:

None other than Lo Bosworth. You can’t really tell it in this picture, but her dress has the cutest bow flopping off the side. Bows are an instant A+, a nice one  from the collection of Joy Han.

Most Creative Use of a Tablecloth:

Maybe she’s just being Miley, but seriously — is this even a dress? It looked like a potato sack on her… and lets not even get into the color. C+ for effort, but the execution was a fail. Definitely not my favorite Moschino piece.

The “Have I Seen This Before?” Dress:

Oh, Vanessa Hudgens.  This Max Azria gown is cute, sure…but not very striking. Try again. (The Jimmy Choos, though, are FAB.)

Best Dressed of the Night:

K-STEW! Regardless of the fact that Twilight nearly swept the awards show, Kristen Stewart looked FIERCE. That dress is so unique — great color choice. I’m pretty sure she out-shined the red carpet itself. AND, say what you want, but I love the Chucks with that dress.

Once again, MTV awards shows never fail to disappoint!
