Ladies of bevello: Meet Sarah!

Ladies (and the precious few gentlemen that bother with our blog), we’d like you to meet Sarah, the once-lone blonde at bevello Winston-Salem (she’s recently dyed and gone to the dark side)! Let’s see what the NCSU grad has to say about bevello, style and every woman’s “must-haves.” Warning: she describes herself as ” very concise.”
Sarah

Sarah, looking precious as usual

Q: What drew you to bevello? (why did you want to work for us)?

I loved bevello’s unique, everyday clothing, and the fun, friendly atmosphere. Bevello’s philosophy on customer service also attracted me…do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

Q: Other than work/shop/play at bevello, what else do you do?

I work at Graylyn as a waitress and also as an event planning intern. I also enjoy reading in my free time.

Describe your personal style.

I think my style is fairly low-key and casual, or shabby chic. I like wearing dresses and cute boots when I go out.

What is your favorite trend right now? What do you see being big for spring?

I see soft and flowy skirts and dresses with girly prints will be big for Spring 2010.

What do you think is the worst fashion mistake a girl could make?

I think the worst mistake is having a run in your pantyhose. I also really can’t stand really (almost white) light-washed jeans. Gross.

What is the fashion staple every girl should have in her closet?

Definitely a simple, well-fitting, black t-shirt.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I’d like to be an Interior Decorator or a banker.

Who is your celebrity fashion icon? Why?

Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston. I love their casual-chic style.

Cameron Diaz

What is your favorite item in-store right now and why?

I’m really loving [RYU:]’s Beige Rabbit Fur Sweater, it’s so soft and can go with anything you wear!

“The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys” … Wait, Make that Fashion!

With summer officially over and fall underway, I’ve finally had just enough time (in between football games, the job search and LSAT classes) to catch up on some movies that I’ve been dying to see. Now, the average reader is probably thinking recent blockbuster hits aka The Ugly Truth, Harry Potter, and maybe even, Inglorious Bastards. I wish you were right! Sadly, I’m going waaaay back. Try The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Twilight and Confessions of a Shopaholic. So you might be asking, “How could you possibly let these classics-in-the-making slip by?!” Well, you can blame my lack in movie attendance on the ch-ch-ch-chaos (done in my best Jamie Foxx voice) of senior year … and the refusal to spend an unreasonable amount of money on a few laughs (even WORSE a few tears), a larger waistline (thank you extra buttery popcorn) and an obstructed view of the big screen (hello, front row seats are not meant for giants and/or O.O.C. hair).

Ok, I’ll admit I recently coughed up some serious moolah ($5 for a coke?!) to see The Hangover a while back. And it was worth every penny. But still, even after I got home, I felt a hint of remorse. I couldn’t help but think how those 15-ish bucks could have been put to a more practical use … like purchasing one of bevello’s newest pieces from its many independent designers! And regardless of what anyone tells me, nothing quite beats the comfort (and affordability) of your own home: oversized couch, healthy snacks, clean bathrooms, DVR and cozy pajamas all at your disposable. That’s what I’m talking about!

So anywho … on with my story. (I do have a point, I promise!) Thanks to my older sister, I was introduced to the single girl’s dating “Bible”—and more importantly, six little words—at a young age. Little did I know that these short but powerful words would continue to linger around over the years, accompanying me home after each and every date. ((Sigh)) That’s right, ladies. You … me … we’ve all heard it before. Say it with me now: He’s. Just. Not. That. Into. You. When I heard a movie was in the works (complete with all-star cast), I was beyond ecstatic and quickly penciled in a pre-Valentine’s date for me and … myself?! But because of “conflicting schedules,” we had to postpone to this past week. Pssshh…ain’t that right.

A few minutes into the movie (combined with the all-too-relatable character Gigi), and I was quickly reminded how nerve-wracking and traumatizing dating can be on a girl. Besides the stress of finding the perfect outfit for your first rendezvous, the rules of dating are complicated, ever changing and just downright unclear. On second thought, make that impossible. Depending on whom you ask (and what you ask them), you are more than likely to end up with conflicting answers. Do you call him first? Do you wait for him to call you? Do you respond to his text in 10? Or do you keep him guessing with that whole “mysterious thing?” Is myspace really the new booty call? See what I mean … the possibilities are endless. And at the end of the day, who the heck really knows?!

But while the rules of dating will never cease to exist (or be understood by all), the same cannot be said about the rules of fashion. Because in today’s fashion world, the rule book has officially been thrown out! Anything goes! Boots in the summer? Check. Mixing two prints? Check. Smokey eyes and bold lips? Check. And my personal fave … white after Labor Day? Check!

Get the most out of your wardrobe by pairing your tried-and-true white jeans (I’m loving the distressed look right now) with some chic boots and a fun, flirty shirt. Or try them with some tough boots and a chunky sweater or bold jacket. And lucky for you, bevello has plenty of fall staples from independent designers Voom, Ryu and Wish Collection that will carry you well into the winter. See, girls, all it really comes down to is your CONFIDENCE and ATTITUDE (two important qualities that should also be possessed in your dating endeavors) … and learning to transition your favorite pieces with the season. Check out this come-hither outfit that I will surely be rocking while out on the town with my girls!

So remember: Be creative and confident with fashion. Have fun, and smile pretty. And who knows … he might just be that into you in no time at all! And if not, well, you probably weren’t that into him either. Ciao, bellas!

DAY 6

Here’s Today’s Sneak Peek:

Looks can be deceiving with this adorable dress!  It looks as though Ryu has taken one of their best selling side ruffle cotton tops and paired it with an A-line skirt and a green belt!  However, all these details are wrapped up into a one piece mixed media dress!  The top is a lightweight cotton with an assymectrical side shoulder ruffle.  The skirt is a poofy pleated silhouette that looks and feels like a matte silk material with a sheen.  A forest green band encircles the waist of the dress to make it unique.

Scarf Inspired outfits from real life stylists

So about a week ago www.celebritylooksforless.com our partner in fashion brought you the great contest where you could win our cream accordian scarf…

Cream Accordian Scarf by Ryu

So the looks for less already announced the winner:

Florina Portillo from San Antonio, Texas!

In honor of sending off the scarf to Florina today (yes, florina you mus-n’t await any longer)  I wanted to do a quick blog with my fun new tool www.polyvore.com that I have recently become completely obessed with.

It’s like picking out all your dream clothes  and assembling it on a blank canvas.  Like modern time web player dolls!

So I drafted up Florina’s outfit (added a few accessories)

The contest was to create an outfit around the scarf.  Florina picked the Jeans and the coral tank  from bevello as well.

While looking at the outfits the contestants chose there were so many to choose from.. One in particular.  Two comments constructed the same outfit! (this time I traded in the cream scarf for our black version) Thanks Jaka M and Amanda for styling this same outfit!

ok well maybe I can… we all have or will in some form or another. But I can’t lie about modcloth boutique online…

Dang it! if its not so darn cute. Their stuff really is pretty amazing and as any honorable fashionista would do- I’ll admit when there is other cute places to shop besides the one I hold so near and dear to me heart (hmm wonder who? heart…hint-hint..wink….wink)

However, I was browsing…(yes JUST browsing for uh um..marketing purposes..yeah thats it!)

And take a gander at what I found… Our same

Just thought I’d pass the savings and the message along.  If bevello sells their dress for $40.00 cheaper, that means we will always do our best to give you the best price possible that we can afford without going out of business.

Which just goes to show you that bevello really does truly LOVE its customers! Now and forever!  Promising to give you the cutest fashion for your money with the best customer service out there online!

No hard feelings modcloth. Your stuff is still hella-cute =)

a vested interest? you bet.

I challenge anyone to bring forth to me a trend that is hotter than the vest right now.

This business-gone-casual (or cash, if you speak in abbrevs) phenomenon is becoming trendier than tucking sweatpants into Uggs. (For the record, this is what I think about that look: Um, ew.)

But the vest…now that’s something I can get into. Think about this, ladies! You have a cami on, and you want to style it up. Throw a vest atop it, slip on some skinny jeans and you’ve got yourself an outfit. They work well with babydoll tops too — and dresses. And v-necks. And….anything? Heck, I’ve even seen some people wearing JUST vests. Buy ONE vest and you’ve seriously got 118232 new outfit possibilities. THAT is the mark of a good fashion investment.

And the time we’ve all been has finally come: the debut of bevello’s very first vest.

But this vest, designed by one of bevello’s emerging designers, Ryu, isn’t your typical black vest, lurking amongst the messy stacks in Forever 21. No, no, no dearies! The vest has two flaps, and, for extra flare, a single button to fasten the smaller part to form-fit your body, defining your shape while the second vest hangs loosely beside you. It’s the perfect combination of flowy-yet-fitted.

The back is cinched and has sharp fan pleating to give the hour-glass appearance. Love it! It’s stylish and totally feminine. A+ to you, Ryu.

We’ve only got three left, though. Yes, un, doix, trois. Will you be the next to rock this fab look?

HELP ME find something to wear with my scarf!

bevellonians, i need your help!

i bought the ryu accordian scarf:

But have yet to wear it because I can’t decide what to pair it with! Do I go dress, or do I go tank? What about a tee? Ahhh, I seriously can NOT decide. And I really want to wear it….STAT. It’s SO CUTE.

So, here are my options:

Option #1, Delias dress:

This dress is so cute. It’s from Delias and I wore it on my birrrrrthdayyyy. Would it match the scarf?

OR I was thinking about this:

Thissss is the adorable cowl-neck sweater dress I bought. I love it, but would the cowl neck be too much for the scarf?

I’m also considering this top:

It’s from Forever 21, and I think it would be cute paired with some skinny jeans and some brown gladiators. Plus the scarf, of course.

Please help me! Vote in the comments ! Send me a personal message! Twitter me! Smoke signal it! Something! For this is a decision I cannot make alone…

bve always!
