oh, she’s just bein’ miley

Miley Cyrus. There, what just came to mind? Nick Jonas, photo scandals, Tennessee twang…Billy Ray and his achy breaky heart, yes. Fashion? Not so much.

Now, I love me some Hannah Montana, but Miley’s style is a bit….young. I was pleasantly surprised, though, at the clothing line she premiered in Walmart. Some of the things are actually quite cute! (Perhaps, though, this is because she shares the line with Max Azria. Yeah, that can’t hurt.)

This plaid top is way cute. Rockin’ the empire waist, good call. It’s made from a nice, breathable cotton, too. And just $12! It looks a bit young, but I think she knows her audience.

Now this purple ruffle top is CUTE. I totally would never have guessed it was a Walmart specialty. Sheer and hemmed under the bust to accentuate the waist. V. nice!

This dress…hmm. Good in theory: dress, check; plaid, check. Two very good choices. But in practice, this dress fails. I don’t know if it’s the print of the plaid or the fact that the skirt juts out like a cone dress…it just looks frumpy. This probably would have worked better as a tunic.

What do you all think about Miley’s WallyWorld line?

mtv movie awards superlatives!

Bevellonians! This post may be a little belated due to our blogging renovations (yay new interface!), but it is WAY overdue. The time has come to discuss the fashion of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

As most of you know, last Sunday hundreds of celebutants walked the red carpet prior to the event and donned their finest and funkiest. I’m thinking it’s time for some superlatives.

First of the night:

Best Strapless Dress:

What better place to start than the always stunning Megan Fox? This Dolce & Gabana piece fit her so well. (No comment on the hair situation.)

Most Interesting Dress:

This one goes to Miss Lauren Conrad! It took me a little getting used to, but when all was said and done I really liked this Moschino dress. And the Louboutins definitely didn’t hurt ;-)

Best Use of Side-Bow:

None other than Lo Bosworth. You can’t really tell it in this picture, but her dress has the cutest bow flopping off the side. Bows are an instant A+, a nice one  from the collection of Joy Han.

Most Creative Use of a Tablecloth:

Maybe she’s just being Miley, but seriously — is this even a dress? It looked like a potato sack on her… and lets not even get into the color. C+ for effort, but the execution was a fail. Definitely not my favorite Moschino piece.

The “Have I Seen This Before?” Dress:

Oh, Vanessa Hudgens.  This Max Azria gown is cute, sure…but not very striking. Try again. (The Jimmy Choos, though, are FAB.)

Best Dressed of the Night:

K-STEW! Regardless of the fact that Twilight nearly swept the awards show, Kristen Stewart looked FIERCE. That dress is so unique — great color choice. I’m pretty sure she out-shined the red carpet itself. AND, say what you want, but I love the Chucks with that dress.

Once again, MTV awards shows never fail to disappoint!
