Happy Friday Fashion bvers!
About 5 years ago when I decided that fashion ran deep in my bones, I made a life changing decision. I abandoned my years of research, high GPA and internships in Human Resources for a career in fashion. I knew it was a risk, switching from a career that was a “sure thing” to a cut throat and competitive industry such as fashion. However I preservered and pursued my dream.
After a lot of bumps in the road and almost literally giving up and turning back to HR, I found bevello! Finally, after putting in many painful years with Retail Managment, Visual Merchandising and Corporate Buying Offices; I have been able to find my place in this fashion realm.
When I first started my position as a Merchandise Assistant at Belk. Inc at the corporate offices in charlotte I asked my parents for subscription to WWD (Women’s Wear Daily) for my birthday. This is a pretty pricey publication but I wanted to learn the industry up and down. For those of you who don’t know WWD is known as a highly respected publication that is “the authority for news and trends in the worlds of fashion, beauty and retail” (www.wwd.com)
Unfortunately after a year my subscription ran out and I could not afford to renew. I also found it hard to keep up with every issue. They just kept coming! Because we are not close to New York and it is printed daily sometimes they would arrive 3 or 4 at time !
With our bevello blog I wanted to offer you a weekly treat! I am going to read through our daily issues of WWD and once a week bring an informative article to keep you current in the fashion world. My favorite articles are on what’s hot and what to expect in the coming collections. So keep checking out bevello blog out for some great insights to what’s going down with the WWD!
This Week there are two things I wanted to share with yall!
1.) Top 10 Designers of Fall 09′
